Bookings
All bookings must be accompanied by a deposit of £150 and will be confirmed in writing or by email. The balance of your course fee is payable no later than six weeks before the start of the course. We will send you a reminder by email. If we do not receive your balance by the due date, we reserve the right to offer the place to someone else.
Travel insurance
We are unable to reimburse travel costs or other losses incurred by you in the event of cancellation by us or you. We strongly advise you to take out travel insurance to cover potential loss arising from cancellation or other eventuality affecting your booking, including course fees, illness and travel costs. Please check that the policy suits your needs.
Cancellations
For cancellations made up to six weeks before the course takes place, your deposit will be returned less a £50 cancellation charge. If a place is cancelled later than six weeks before the course we will retain the full deposit of £150 but we will do our best to find someone to take your place. If we succeed, the balance of your fee (less the £150 deposit), will be returned. If we cannot re-fill your place, we will retain the full fee. If a student leaves before the end of a course, no refund will be given.
Transfers
You may be able to transfer your booking to another course, subject to availability. We will normally accept transfers up to six weeks before the course takes place and all of the fee paid will be allocated to the new course. Once a booking is transferred we are unable to offer any refunds for subsequent cancellation, or further transfers.
Changes to the programme
The Garsdale Retreat reserves the right to make changes to the advertised programme and tutors. As we plan the the programme in advance, changes will inevitably occur to some courses, and occasionally the original tutor is unavailable. We always endeavour to replace tutors with someone of similar experience, and to give you as much notice as possible. Please note that where we have to change tutors, you do not have additional rights of cancellation and our standard terms still apply.
Conduct
We ask that you are thoughtful and respectful of everyone at The Garsdale Retreat including other students, tutors and guest readers. The Garsdale Retreat reserves the right to refuse a place and to exclude from a course any person who, in the opinion of the course director, behaves in an inappropriate, abusive or disruptive manner or engages in any discriminatory conduct. There would be no refund given if exclusion is made for these reasons.
Under 18s
Unfortunately, we do not accept bookings from anyone under the age of 18.
Loss
The Garsdale Retreat cannot accept responsibility for any loss, damage or expense sustained by students as a result of an event or circumstance whether arising from natural cause, human agency, or beyond its control otherwise. Where The Garsdale Retreat is unable to provide a course place to you for any reason, our liability is limited to return of the fees paid. At all times, our liability to you is limited to the course or retreat fee you have paid.
Participation
The Garsdale Retreat is committed to providing an inclusive, supportive and welcoming environment to all. It aims to create a safe and positive context in which participants can develop their work with confidence and enjoyment. Students will be expected to fully participate in the activities of the scheduled programme. They will not be expected to carry out any domestic duties. All meals/washing up etc. will be fully catered. If you have any specific needs, it is important that you discuss these with us prior to booking, to establish whether your needs can be met.
Privacy and data
By booking, you agree that we may collect and store personal information about you and your interactions with The Garsdale Retreat. This includes: your personal contact details; details of your booking and booking history, including any access and dietary needs you have told us about; records of payments (not including credit/debit card numbers etc.); details of any correspondence and any other information we need to keep in order to administer your booking. All personal information is kept securely on electronic systems. We do not store payment card details. We will use this information to communicate with you about your booking and we may, unless you tell us otherwise, communicate with you about future courses, retreats or events at The Garsdale Retreat. We never share or sell information about our course participants with any third party, either in aggregate or in individual form.
